The idea was to have multiple levels and types of larger than life Teapots and cups, pouring “tea” from the top to bottom, set on the centre of the Casino, surrounded by an Art Deco style Café.
Multiple studies of the form and look, types of Teapots and their hanging structure took over 6 months to come to a final 3D concept design and 1/10th scale model.

From there, full technical studies and Structural Engineering were done as the whole cantilevered structure weighs over 3 tons and has to support over 200 Teapots and cups.
The unit is built around a main central column 1000mm diameter x 7600mm tall.

Above the sculpture is a large 10m diameter domes ceiling that also holds 12 teapots facing into the centre.
The sculpture is made up of 6 repeated identical “spirals’ that each have 17 pieces attached and 7 ‘working’ fountain water teapots. So a total of 42 Teapots and 42 cups pour and receive flowing “tea” upon operation.

The main frame is steel and this unit is clad in mirror stainless steel. The teapots and cups are supported out from the main structure by rods that act not only as supports but carry the wiring for the LED lighting hidden in the cups as well as the piping for the water.

The base holds 3 x 50 gallon water tanks and 7 pumps, independently controlled by a state-of-the-art computer system to monitor water flow, lighting and the various on/off controls for the individual valves per teapot.

the Pump control box will auto filling water to 4 feeding water tanks .
on daily operation , it re filling water to individuals feeding water tanks when it is half empty, a yellow indicator light on Pump control box show for pump working for that tank, and indicator light will turn green when water is full , pump stop .
Making of Valve display Switch & Indicator box , has Indicator light display the Animation Sequence playing synchronise with teapot, it has the independent switch for each teapot , can turn off anyone independently if need .Prevent all possible maintenance scenarios on long-term operation

The Teapots and cups are made of Fibreglass and finished in a combination of golds, coppers and bronzes, by electro plating, gilding and spraying techniques. There are 9 different types and sizes of Teapots and 3 varying Cup sizes. Ranging from the single largest Teapot at the very top, some 3800m across, from those on the structure of 1500mm to just 480mm from handle to spout.

The installation had to have a special design as no full lifting could be done externally on site as the main decoration and domes ceiling was already installed. So the main central tower was installed early in 2015, and the rest uses a self lifting mechanism built into the frame.
The conical shape cladding is made in 2 half units, fitting around the central column, then lifting up by winches and pulley wires from within. each layer, with the Teapots and cups hand assembled, to 2 days to install and lift, the upper one going in first, followed by 6 more layers.

The fountain water systems with computer program also control waterproof LEDs installed in each Cup that receives water, and can illuminate in tandem with this or independently.
